1) You may briefly check your grades at www.gradeconnect.com.

2) Do Objective B-81: Web Lessson 8. Go to the online resources listed below. Using your required, low profile clipboard, loose-leaf paper and pen , write something about what you learned about each of the websites visited . Begin each of the notes with the title of the website visited. The number of sides of written notes expected for full credit will be announced during class. Drawings are not included in the number of sides. Be sure to include a title and use the proper heading format and to write notes.

3) Go to the SCILINKS and choose the topics below. These are are listed under the teacher's favorites on SCILINKS. The scilinks are on the website and each scilink topic includes a number of websites. The scilinks were selected from Chapters 20 and 22 . The topics for the scilinks are:

animal behavior

hibernation

climate/weather

tundra

taiga

temperate forests

tropical rain forest

grasslands

deserts/desertification

succession

 

4) Try to go to all of all of the scilinks and all of the websites. There are numerous websites for each scilink. You need to look quickly at all of them and then go back and focus on several websites that are interesting, interactive, and that help you learn and become enthusiatic about the topic.

5) Use this format for your notes: a) List the title of each scilinks. b) List the title of each website visited under the scilink title. c) Give several lines of notes under each website title. d) Do not skip lines, stretch your words out, or leave wide margins. e) Underline the titles. f) diagrams don't count towards the total sides.

6) Unit 5 started on 4/19/07 and includes Chapters 14, 15, 16, 17. It is scheduled to end on May 4, 2007.. Be sure to take your textbook home and read, study and know everything in the 4 Chapters. The homework is Objective B-63 and consists in writing complete definitions for the bold-type words in Chapter 14. It is due at the start of class on Monday, April 23, 2007 and is worth 18 points. Those students who received low grades are should attend tutoring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from 3:20 to 4 PM.

1) Check your grades at www.gradeconnect.com. The grades may not include assignments done this week.

2) Do Objective B-34: Web Lessson 4. The first part of today's lesson is not on the web. You will be doing Investigation 9.2A - Natural Selection: A Simulation (Part A only) on Pages 242, 243, and 244 in the textbook. (be sure to use the right heading format on your loose-leaf paper and include a title and subtitles (as underlined)

a) Each 2 students will be using the Bio-Sim CD on one of the computers. Run the program from the CD. Select Load and then Selective Pressure. Then follow the procedure in your text. Check the Information and read it with your partner. Then do the various combinations of moths, soot, and birds as indicated in your text.

b) Each student should sketch the required graphs on loose-leaf paper ( on their requiired low-profile clipboards) and label them. (There are many graphs.)

c) Each student should write the answers to the 5 discussion questions for 9.2 A on the same loose-leaf paper as their graphs.

d) When you are finished drawing and writing Investigation 9.2A, return the Bio-Sim CD and individually go to the SCILINKS website and add as many notes as you have time for. Write the notes after the 5 Discussion Questions.

e) Go to the SCILINKS and use those that are listed under the teacher's favorites. The scilinks are on the website and each scilink topic includes a number of websites. Select the scilinks from Chapters 9. The topics for the scilinks are:

2) Register for Scilinks. Follow the instructions on the handout. Go to www.scilinks.org

3) Do Objective B-07. Sign-on to scilinks.org and then go to the online resources listed below. Write something about what you learned about each of the websites visited unless other instructions are given. The number of sides of notes expected for full credit will be announced during class. The number of new scilinks and new websites (and time on each) visited will also be considered in determining the grade for this objective.. Be sure to hand-in the assignment at the end of this class unless announced otherwise.
